Kartika Masam — the month of a thousand lamps

The holiest month for Shiva and Vishnu, when every dawn begins with a river snanam and every dusk with a deepam. We've shaped three sacred yatras around it — from the five Pancharama Kshetras to the lamp-lit ghats of Kashi on Karthika Pournami.

Why Kartika

A month when Hari and Hara are worshipped as one

Kartika Masam begins the day after Deepavali Amavasya and runs for one lunar month. The Skanda and Padma Puranas call it the most meritorious of all months — a time for pre-dawn river baths, Monday fasts for Shiva, Tulasi worship for Vishnu, and above all, the offering of light.

For families in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, it is the season of Pancharama darshan, Karthika deepams floated on the Godavari, and Vanabhojanam under the amla tree. In Kashi, it ends in Dev Deepawali, when the gods themselves are said to descend to the ghats.

Every lamp lit in Kartika is said to light a path for one's ancestors.Traditional belief, Karthika Puranam

    Questions

    Before you travel

Can all five Pancharamas be visited in a single day?

Yes. Many devotees do the full Pancharama darshan in one day on a Karthika Somavaram, starting before dawn at Amaravati and ending at Samalkot after dark. It's a long, demanding day, so we usually recommend two days — but we'll arrange the one-day circuit on request.

How early should we book for Dev Deepawali in Kashi?

As early as possible. Hotels near the ghats and boats for the evening of Karthika Pournami fill weeks ahead. Our fixed departure holds a reserved boat and rooms, which is the simplest way to secure a place.

    Is the food strictly sattvic?

All meals we arrange during Kartika are pure vegetarian. If you observe no onion and garlic, or are fasting on Mondays, tell us and we'll plan meals and timings around it.

Is the yatra suitable for elderly parents?

Yes. We plan short walking distances, wheelchair assistance where temples allow it, rest breaks between darshans, and a coordinator to handle queues. Let us know any mobility needs when you enquire.

Can we start from Bengaluru, Hyderabad or Chennai?

Of course. We plan the yatra from your city, suggest the best flights or trains to connect, and adjust the itinerary so your arrival and departure fit comfortably.
